Abstract
This thesis proposes to examine and analyze selected wrought iron doors at Eastern State Penitentiary to evaluate the probable causes and evolution of their deterioration with the purpose of contributing to the conservation and stabilization efforts of this historic structure. A study of the history and immediate physical contexts of the doors was done as a way to frame and inform this evaluation.
