Abstract

The purpose of this research capstone was to explore the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on millennial women in the corporate workforce. The capstone provided foundational research through a quantitative survey of 194 responses from millennial women in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, region of the United States who are predominantly White. The study focused on issues related to pay equity, the impact of gender on oneâ s career trajectory, the â Great Resignation,â and the characteristics of millennial women in the workplace pre- and post-pandemic. Results indicated that two-thirds of the respondents were first-generation college students, half of them preferred working in a hybrid setting, and many changed jobs during the pandemic, using social media in their job search. They also emphasized the importance of work/life balance. The findings, based on the themes of pay, time employed by their employer, and positive impact on careers related to the pandemic indicate that the COVID-19 pandemic impacted this group of millennial women in the U.S. corporate workforce. These findings highlight the importance of further research exploring millennial women in the workforce.
