Publication Right Node Raising Requires both Ellipsis and Multidomination(2011-01-01) Barros, Matthew; Vicente, LuisExisting analyses of Right Node Raising (RNR) implicitly assume that all instances thereof can be subsumed under a single mechanism, whether it be movement, ellipsis, or multidomination. We challenge this assumption by showing that English RNR can be divided into (at least) two distinct subtypes, one which shows properties of ellipsis and one which shows properties of multidomination. Moreover, we also show that these two subtypes are in complementary distribution, and that neither one can be reduced to the other. The overall result is that RNR is not a single process, but rather a cover term for a family of processes with superficially identical outputs.Publication The Quantitative Analysis of Turntaking in Multiparticipant Conversations(1996) Dubois, Sylvie; Boutin, Martine; Sankoff, DavidPublication Isolation within Isolation: The invisible Outer Banks dialect(1996) Wolfram, Walt; Hazen, KirkPublication Dialect Levelling, Koineisation and the Speech of the Adult Migrant(1996) Kerswill, PaulPublication Variation in /ai/ in Northern British English, with comments on Canadian Raising(1996) Milroy, JamesPublication Subject Pronoun Variation in Central Romance(1996) Heap, DavidPublication On the Acquisition of Variable Phonology in L2(1996) Nagy, Naomi; Moisset, Christine; Sankoff, GillianPublication The Short `a' Pattern of Philadelphia among African-American Speakers(1996) Henderson, AnitaPublication Sociolinguistic Interviewer Style Variation: Hyperconvergence in the Other Informant(1996) Peterson, James
